Tracey Karsten Farrell is a member of The Park Theater Trust’s board of directors. Tracey and her husband Glenn have raised their family in the small town of Lafayette, CA where they attended many a birthday party matinee and shared many a tub of date-night popcorn at the locally iconic Park Theater. When in 2018 the City of Lafayette formed a task force to seek solutions for the Art Deco cinema and its beloved neon marquee—dark since 2005—it was those memories along with her love of the preservation of historic buildings that led her to join the community-wide conversation. The Park Theater Trust became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2019 and now has the property in contract. They have initiated an $8 million capital campaign to finalize the acquisition and begin the rehab, with the goal of reopening in late 2022 with a diverse programming mix of recent movie releases, classic favorites and independent films, and engaging non-film events.
