SF Chinatown shines in this online tour about neon signs and how they illuminate the history of Grant Avenue, Part 1.

There is a wealth of vintage neon signs and stories in the streets and alleys of Chinatown. This tour features some of the oldest signs in the city. Although many no longer light up, several signs still give a glow to the neighborhood every evening. This is the first tour of a two-part series.

Free | Suggested donation of $10.

Zoom link will be sent on the day of the event to those who register.

This one-hour virtual tour features vintage neon signs and a rich collection of photographs, video clips, maps, and historic research compiled by hosts Al Barna and Randall Ann Homan, authors and photographers of the book “San Francisco Neon: Survivors and Lost Icons”. Tour includes the history of neon sign and unique small businesses that once thrived in the neighborhood plus the legacy businesses that have survived against considerable odds.

SF Neon is sponsored by the Tenderloin Museum
