	Marty's point is well-taken: That signs are grandfathered in, but if they come down, they are subject to current sign code and most likely are not permitted to be re-installed.  The good news is that this is changing, slowly but surely, and there are some towns in California that have been leading the way.

I saw open holes in the metal along the horizontal bands, and the present tubes double over at the ends. 	A: If the city is a Certified Local Government (an official designtion with the State Historic Preservation Office), they will have access to free money that is meant to be used for things exactly like surveys. Talking (and getting lots and lots of other people to talk) to the city's preservation or landmark commission staff and encouraging them to use their CLG funds for a sigin survey is a good strategy I think.

	I’m not sure who could best answer this question or if it’s too broad, but what can the average neon fan with zero expertise do after discovering a covered sign or a damaged sign that could help with the preservation efforts? Is it a matter of just documenting and spreading the word to people like yourselves? I’m sure many of us would like to be of use but are also not in a position to restore anything ourselves, and we don’t want to be a nuisance to those that can.

	yes for many years the Park featured almost exclusively art and foreign films…Millions…Waking Ned Devine…. etc. We hope to bring that back along with music and aligning with other nonprofits and the schools. And yes, I goofed - Orinda did open in 1941 — which makes the differences between the two theaters - and the two communities at the time - even more striking
